2 Alarm Multi-Residential Fire
Around 7:30 PM, on Monday to 2/9/15, Five Points was alerted to assist Brandywine Hundred, Station 11, on a working residential fire on N Market Street between 39th Street and 40th. Five Points' Ladder-17 responded with a crew of seven and Engine 17-5 responded with a crew of five. Brandywine Hundred's 11–3 arrived first on scene to find fire showing from a two story residential building. While in route crews were alerted that there was one victim reported on the first floor. Within eight minutes of arriving on scene crews from Talleyville's 25–6 and Claymont's 13–2 located and removed the victim. All sides of the structure were laddered with Talleyville's 25–7 on the Alpha Side, Five Points' Ladder-17 on the Bravo Side, Claymont's Ladder-13 on the Charlie Side, and Brandywine Hundred's Tower–11 on Delta Side. Within 25 minutes the incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm due to wind spreading the fire to neighboring apartments. After 130 minutes the scene was placed under control as all fire was knocked down along with hotspots. In total 11 different fire companies were on scene, 1 patient was transported in critical condition, another patient was transported in stable condition, and 2 patients were treated on scene by New Castle County's Paramedics. The fire is currently under investigation by the DE State Fire Marshal's Office.
